FAQ
WHAT IS DEADSTOCK FABRIC?
Deadstock dressmaking fabric has been left over from the production runs of companies manufacturing clothing. It is available in limited quantities and is not re-orderable. These leftover fabrics will not otherwise be used up by the designer or brand that purchased them, so they are sold on via wholesalers. We select only the best quality from top design houses, to bring you exclusive fabrics to use in your dressmaking projects. Once they're gone, they're gone...!
HOW DOES YOUR PRICING WORK?
We price per half metre to enable you to order just the amount you need and avoid excess. We try our very best to capture our products accurately in photos and use a colour card to help you, but the display of colours can vary between device monitors. If in doubt, contact us for more photographs or to request a swatch first!
WHERE ARE THE CARE INSTRUCTIONS?
This deadstock fabric is not prewashed and does not come with care instructions. Some shrinkage and/or colour bleeding should be expected when washed for the first time. This can even occur with dry cleaning. We recommend that you test wash a small swatch of your fabric first to determine how it will react to your chosen washing method. To be on the safe side, please place your order taking into account potential shrinkage of up to 10% both across and along the grain.
WHAT PACKAGING DO YOU USE?
We use paper packaging where possible, because it is the most widely recyclable and recycled material within the EU. Due to the delicate nature of your fabric and the variability in handling of postal systems, it may be shipped in a plastic outer layer. Please recycle when possible!
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
We want you to have a great experience shopping with us! Returns are welcome within 14 days of receipt of your order. Please contact us by email, telephone or contact form to arrange your return. Note that fabric that has been cut to order is considered a customised item and is non-returnable unless faulty.
Deadstock fabrics have a story to tell and have often been on a journey - from factory to design house to wholesaler - before they come to us. Occasional marks, snags etc. are to be expected and are not considered a defect when limited to within 5cm of the cut edges or selvedge edges. Markings may occasionally have been made by a design house and are not considered a defect when limited to the wrong side of the fabric and not visible from the right side of the fabric.

WHAT IS YOUR "HOLD FOR LATER DELIVERY" SHIPPING OPTION?
We understand that you might want to snap up a dream remnant while it's available but before you're finished looking at all our other lovely things. Or you may wish to make several smaller orders over a period of time but save on shipping. Maybe you're also trying to reduce your carbon footprint a bit! If you select the (free) shipping option "Hold for later delivery" at checkout we will set aside your order but not ship it. The next time you place an order using a standard shipping option we will add your previously held order to it. If you place several orders using the "Hold for later delivery" option we will automatically ship them together, for free, when in total they reach the threshold for free shipping for your destination (currently 999SEK for Sweden, 2499SEK for UK and EU and 2999SEK for Rest of World). If you wish us to ship several held orders together before in total they reach the threshold for free shipping for your destination, you can drop us a line at info@stitchstockholm.com and we will provide you with a shipping quote. This shipping option does not remove the requirement to pay for the order in its entirety in order to complete the checkout process and reserve the items.
WHAT ADDITIONAL COSTS ARISE FOR CUSTOMERS ORDERING FROM OUTSIDE THE EU?
We are now thrilled to be accepting orders for shipping all over the world!
- The product and shipping prices displayed online all include sales VAT at 25% for all EU customers. Customers ordering from within the EU pay no additional VAT or customs charges.
- The product and shipping prices displayed online all include sales VAT at 20% for UK customers. The post-Brexit rules regarding import VAT and customs charges are different for consignments worth <135GBP, for which you should not be required to pay additional taxes over and above the VAT already paid, and those worth >135GBP, for which additional taxes (for example import VAT) will be charged to the customer at the point of import. You can read more about these taxes through the www.gov.uk website. For consignments of any value, the delivery service handling your delivery may levy a handling charge, for which the customer is responsible. Handling charges are beyond our control and not included in the cost of shipping. If in doubt, send us a message before placing your order!
- We do not collect sales VAT applicable in countries outside of the EU and UK. Customers ordering from outside the EU and UK may be charged sales and import taxes, and additional charges, depending on local taxation laws and delivery services. These are beyond our control and not reflected in the prices or shipping costs displayed. It is the customer's responsibility to check what charges they may be asked to pay prior to placing an order and to pay the charges as required. Fabric cut to order that is returned to us because of local import charges remaining unpaid by the customer will not be refunded. Should the customer wish the order to be sent again, a second postage fee will be payable prior to dispatch from our store.
